In a triangle ABC, ∠A = 90° and D is mid-point of AC. The value of BC2 - BD2 is equal to
\(\angle A = 90°\). By Pythagoras:
\(BC^2 - BD^2 = AC^2 - AD^2\). D is the midpoint of AC, so \(AC = 2AD\):
\(BC^2 - BD^2 = 4AD^2 - AD^2 = 3AD^2\)
Answer: (A) \(3AD^2\)
